Charlie Chambers
Vice President of Construction

Charlie Chambers, Willow Creek’s vice president of construction, is a results-oriented, driven professional with over 20 years of experience in all facets of the construction industry.

With his proven track record managing multimillion-dollar projects, Charlie attributes his success to his ability to maintain project costs, manage the coordination of trades, and develop beneficial partnerships with architects, engineers, local officials, vendors and clients.

As a Virginia Tech graduate with a Bachelor of Science in Building Construction and Civil Engineering, Charlie is well-versed in all phases of the construction process, including design problems, ground-up development and new construction, upgrades and renovations, document preparation, building codes and regulations, material purchasing, customer service, and site management and development, from concept to certificate of occupancy.

Marc D. Kahn
Senior Project Manager

Marc demonstrates a broad range of capabilities and project experience from Superintendent to Area Director of Multifamily construction to Construction Project Manager overseeing a multi property transition into a combined property. Mares’ twenty-five- year record in construction includes ground up residential, multifamily and commercial multi-use buildings;including restaurant builds. Multifamily residential renovations, Office interiors, retail interiors, white box, Municipal and government ground up and interior projects, plus core building upgrades.
Marc started his professional career within the hospitality industry. The skills learned within hotels and restaurants, both front and back of house made it an easy transition into the construction industry.
The ability to speak with anyone and understanding the scheduling, coordination and financials are just some of the skills that carried over and made for a smooth transition.
Marc has been able to use out of the box thinking to turn problems into opportunities. Marc has successfully managed private sector and public sector projects both DesignlBuild and DesignlBidlBuild from estimating through design to project management and closeout.
Marc has excelled in developing and managing the right teams to execute on complex and time constrained projects throughout his career.

Steve Kurtz
Construction Manager

With over 33 years in multifamily construction, Construction Manager Steve Kurtz brings a wealth of experience to Willow Creek’s interior and exterior capital projects.

Prior to joining Willow Creek Construction, Steve served as the project manager of renovations before moving into the role of regional maintenance manager with his previous company of 19 years. While there, he managed numerous large-scale projects in Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina and Georgia.

Today, Steve’s known and respected in the construction industry for his unique ability to develop excellent working relationships with project stakeholders, including owners, clients, engineers, local officials, subcontractors and vendors.

Nicholas Toney
Project Engineer

Nicholas Toney (Toney) is a project engineer for Willow Creek Construction.  In this lead support role, Toney has helped successfully complete millions of dollars projects for both Willow Creek Construction’s commercial and multifamily teams. Toney’s involvement is critical from the bid process through occupancy.  He leads communication between client/subcontractors & Project Managers. He also coordinates the RFI’s, CO’s, submittals, and contracts.  Along with his core responsibilities he assists in the development and management of project schedules. Helping to ensure end-of-project work is complete and sent to all parties.  Toney contributes to pre con success helping to expedite permits as well as collecting bids and quotes from suppliers and subcontractors.

Before joining Willow Creek Construction, Toney worked as an Office Engineer for Anchor Construction where he supported project management operations for Utility Green Infrastructure, and Utility Gray Infrastructure (residential and commercial electric distribution services) for various public agencies.  Some of his successful projects were Darnestown Substation Bioretention Facility and Airforce Memorial Lighting project.

Toney is a proud graduate of the University of District of Columbia. He was heavily involved in university research, achieved national and international acknowledgement in his field of study.

In his free time Toney enjoys hiking and biking but spends the most time volunteering for youth organizations, civil rights groups, and community food gardens.

John Hammett
Project Superintendent

John Hammett is a highly successful Project Superintendent with over 30 years in construction and 19+ years as a Superintendent.   He has extensive experience in government and commercial fit out construction.  John is recognized for ability to finish projects on time and under budget.  He is able to expertly navigate subcontractor relationships while driving projects forward in sensitive environments.  His day-to-day leadership on site recognized by project stake holders and respected by contractors.  This shows in his return customers and large subcontractor network.

Prior to Willow Creek Construction John has worked for HBW Construction, Contour Construction JCC Contracting and Palmers Contracting Group. He successfully completed jobs for high profile clients like Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman, Boeing, Columbia Medical Center, Hamilton Hotel, Lincoln Properties, Capital Woman’s Care and UNHCR.

In his free time, he is involved in Boy Scouts, All American Soap Box Derby and Fishing.  Usually you can find him doing what he loves, working in his yard.
